Philip Mauceri is an American political scientist and author. He is most known for his books, Politics in the Andes, The Peruvian Labyrinth, and State Under Siege.
Philip Mauceri was the son of Anthony Mauceri and Fances R. (Peralta) Mauceri.
Philip’s paternal grandparents were Thomas Mauceri and Lena Giaruputo. His maternal grandparents were Frank Peralta and Angelina Curatolo. All four of Philip Mauceri’s grandparent’s were Italian immigrants.
Mauceri, Giarupto, and Curatolo tend to be southern Italian surnames (usually Sicilian). Peralta is more commonly a Spanish surname and sometimes Sephardic Jewish, however Philip’s maternal grandmother almost certainly is not Jewish, and likely has no Spanish ancestry. Peralta can often be of Italian origin.
