James Traficant was an American politician and convicted felon. He was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, from January 3, 1985 to July 24, 2002, and Sheriff of Mahoning County, Ohio, from 1981 to 1984. He was a Democrat from 1981 to 2002, then becoming an Independent.
He was a candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 1988.
